The Chengdu Research Base is a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. It is situated in Chengdu, Sichuan, China.It began with 6 giant pandas that were saved from the wild. By 2008, it had 124 panda births, and the captive panda population has developed to 83. It is estimated that there are currently only 1,864 giant pandas in the world.
It is wonderful to know that there is a place like this, its expressed objective is to "be a world-class research facility, conservation education center, and international educational tourism destination."
